Boot Fitting

Northern Ski Works knows boot fitting

All of our boot fitters are avid skiers and come from varied ski industry backgrounds including ski instructors, ski reps, ski racers and ski coaches.  So they are up-to-date on the latest industry trends and understand your needs as a recreational skier, ski racer, PSIA Instructor or coach.  We are proud to have our own Certified Pedorthist on staff. The experience of each of our fitters is measured in decades and their expertise has helped Northern Ski Works win numerous awards and accolades over the years. Hal Karabots in our Killington store and Tom Favro in our Okemo store along with their staff at each location have been named to Ski Magazine's 15 Best Boot Fitters list.  Our main goal is to help customers find the right boots and to customize those boots to optimize skiing enjoyment.

Tekscan Digital Balancing System

Tekscan is a computer hardware/software system that measures and digitally maps out pressures and weight distribution of the foot and/or ski boot. Using this device, our boot fitters can get a more accurate picture of a skier’s balance strengths and weaknesses than ever before possible. Such information allows us to:
Tekscan Computerized Dynamic Balancing System

  • Evaluate and optimize a skier's fore/aft balance to find the boot that will work best for you.
  • Determine the correct foot position within a ski or snowboard boot to maximize weight transfer for more efficient skiing or boarding.
  • Find out why your boot hurts your foot, and alter your boot to better accommodate your foot.
  • Set up your equipment based on your own personal architecture, allowing you to ski more strongly, with less effort.
  • Discover what other equipment will enhance your skiing or riding, i.e. which bindings, skis and and setups will match your body type.
Stop by and visit our boot technicians for a free look at your balance picture. Maybe your equipment is set up perfectly, but from what we see on a daily basis, chances are that there is room for improvement. Skiing is challenging enough without handicaps.
